CANOE & PADDLE BOARDING ON LAC À JEAN

Located in the heart of the Palissades de Charlevoix Park and at the foot of our inn, Lac à Jean offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding cliffs. Treat yourself to a moment of calm and relaxation by renting one of our boats and let yourself be carried away by the serenity of the place.

We offer two types of boats: canoe and paddle board. For the 2023 summer season, we are also offering a brand-new 8-person paddle board – the perfect option for a relaxing time with friends or family!

Rate: $20 (+tax) per boat.

• Waterproof bags available for rent on site ($2).

EXCURSION ON THE NOIRE RIVER

Choose your boat and set off to explore the winding curves of the Noire River. Flowing through a glacial valley with spectacular granite cliffs, the river is home to wildlife such as beavers, moose, and deer.

Whether in a single kayak, double kayak, or canoe, you’ll discover the Charlevoix backcountry at the rhythm of the current. Available for a full day or a 3-hour session, you can adapt your journey to your own pace and preferences.

The route on the Noire River can be done both upstream and downstream on calm water with little current and shallow depth – making this a family-friendly activity with no rapids. Perfect for beginners as no prior experience is required.

You’ll have full freedom to paddle at your own pace, going up or down the river. Fishing is also possible if you hold a fishing license for Zone 27.

Our rental options:

3-hour outing

• Time slots: 8am–11am / 12pm–3pm / 4pm–7pm (boats must be returned at the end of each slot)

• Prices: $30 (single kayak) / $40 (double kayak) / $40 (canoe)

Full-day outing

• Time slot: 8am–7pm (boats must be returned by 7pm)

• Prices: $60 (single kayak) / $80 (double kayak) / $80 (canoe)

Rentals include paddles/oars, life jackets, whistles, and a map. Waterproof bags available on site ($2).

Optional Shuttle Service:
Depending on weather conditions and the season, the current may be stronger. We therefore offer a shuttle option at a cost of $25 (+tax) per boat. With this option, your boat will be dropped off at the end of the course and transported back to the starting point by our team.

Your return will be via one of our hiking trails (about a 1h15 walk).

The house is 25 minutes from Mont Grand-Fonds, the Casino, and Les Palissades for winter via ferrata.
Close to the snowmobile trail, Les Palissades de Charlevoix and OBOIS where you can enjoy snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and fatbiking. Dog sledding with Bosco is just 10 minutes from your chalet.

You can also rent a snowmobile in La Malbaie (25 minutes away) and explore the Charlevoix region.

Charming home located in a quiet area of Saint-Siméon. Just minutes away from whale-watching cruises, Les Palissades Adventure Park, the Rivière-du-Loup/Saint-Siméon ferry, the beach, and all village services.

The house accommodates up to 5 people. It has two bedrooms with queen beds and a 54-inch sofa bed in another room. Several amenities are included: Wi-Fi, free parking, a fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, a partial river view, a patio with BBQ, and a fire pit area with free wood.

Grocery delivery available upon request for snowmobilers.

Intermediate current: the route on the river is an out-and-back. However, depending on weather conditions and the season, the current may be stronger. In this case, we offer a shuttle option at a cost of $25 (+tax) per boat. This service allows you to drop off your boat at the far end of the course. Our team will transport it back to the starting point with a motor vehicle, while you return on foot via one of our hiking trails (about a 1h15 walk).

The Maison Carofanne chalet is located just 10 minutes from the Palissades de Charlevoix, where you can enjoy a wide variety of year-round outdoor activities.

The Palissades Mountain Adventure Park is a natural jewel, unique in North America. This world-class mountain park is open year-round and features a rustic inn, camping, log cabins, and a mountain shelter. Nestled deep in the mountains with its own lake, river, and impressive 400 m high by 4 km wide cliff, it is located only 10 km from the village of Saint-Siméon on Route 170.

The Palissades offer:

• 2 very natural via ferrata routes (with few artificial holds)

WINTER VIA FERRATA

This adventure activity combines hiking and ice climbing. Secured by steel cables fixed to the rock face, participants move from ledge to ledge across the frozen cliffs.

A unique outing combining ski-hok, via ferrata, suspension bridge, and rope rappel. You’ll cross a frozen lake, a mixed coniferous and deciduous forest, and overlook the stunning Palissades cliffs of Charlevoix.

BACKCOUNTRY SKIING

Starting directly from the inn, the ascent via the snowshoe trail is so smooth you hardly notice it. The viewpoint from the “perch” is breathtaking – and the descent is just as unforgettable.

During the winter season, you can explore our beautiful forest trails by dog sled, canicross, or skijoring. Come and try different harness sports with the whole team at Bosco Charlevoix. These are fun, active experiences carried out with respect and love for our dogs.

In spring and autumn, you can also try activities such as canicross or simply visit our Dog Park.

All year long, it is very important for us to keep our dogs stimulated. That’s why our routine includes at least two daily play sessions, each lasting at least one hour. These moments allow our dogs to exercise, play, and develop both mentally and physically. Every day, the dogs learn to trust themselves and the other members of the team a little more. Likewise, we get to know them better by observing their interactions. These play sessions are an essential part of our work, and we will be delighted to share this experience with you.

Snowshoeing, backcountry skiing, Via Ferrata at Les Palissades

This adventure activity combines hiking and ice climbing. The winter via ferrata is a mountain hike secured by steel cables fixed to the rock face, where participants progress along terraces and ledges. No climbing experience or technical skills are required.

The activity ends with a 30 m rappel descent and our double zipline crossing over Lac à Jean, offering a breathtaking view of the Palissades.
